Next Up....

Doo-Ri Chung Is Macy’s Next Collaborator

Sketches from Doo-Ri's Macy's line.

Though I think Macy's has hit a wall and will never be considered fashion-forward, I am super excited for this Impulse collaboration.  Doo-Ri Chung is an amazing talent and drapes a garment better than anyone. This is what collaboration lines are all about: introducing an unfamiliar name to the masses that carries a talent that can be appreciated by all. Doo-Ri will design trench coats, some arty prints, short and long dresses, and leggings for her Macy's collection, according to WWD. The price points will range from $39 to $159 and will be sold for eight weeks begining February 15th. Mark your calendars!

Check out some of the looks from Doo-Ri Chung's RTW Spring 2012 collection. See the full collection at style.com.

Photos of the Karl Lagerfeld Line for Macy's

An extensive group of photos have been released for the Lagerfeld line that will be arriving in 235 Macy's stores on August 31st. True to Lagerfeld's style, the colors consist most of black and white with shades of pink thrown in every so often.  I couldn't be happier that Coco Rocha was selected as the model for this campaign. Here are just a few of my favorite pieces of the collection.

Not sure how Macy's is doing it!

In the ever-saturating market of designer diffusion lines, rumor has it Giambattista Valli will be the next fancy designer to announce one of his own. WWD reports in a story eerily titled "Valli of the Malls" that Valli will do a line with Macy's, following the one Karl Lagerfeld's doing for the chain coming out in September. Valli would be the last in this four-designer series, created by Macy's to get teens and fashion people excited about their juniors section. Macy's would not comment on the Valli rumors, but of all the designers who have done diffusion lines, Valli's is particularly hard to imagine since he's known for extravagant, doorway-challenging tulle ball gowns. Of course, the reputations of great designers like Alexander McQueen didn't stop them from doing one-off lines. It feels like luxury labels who haven't done or aren't planning these lines are in the minority. No one from LVMH has done one, at least.
